Question:I used a semi-permanent hair color on my hair, that last for three to four weeks with my hair. Can a permanent hair color product be applied over that, before the semi-perm color has completely faded? Thanks for your help! Diane

Answer:

Hello Diane,

If you are using a non-permanent hair color that has some sort of developer to mix it with, it is considered a Demi Permanent hair color. Which will last up to 4 to 6 weeks. You will still see some residue of the color after 6 weeks. Semi permanent hair color is just straight out of the bottle which uses no developer and only last a few washings.

That said, to answer your question, if you can use a permanent hair color over a semi or demi hair color, the answer is yes. However it is never a good idea to bring the permanent hair color over the mid shaft to ends more than once. This will give you ammonia burns on the hair making it dry and unmanageable. It will also make the hair fade faster because of pulling thru color will cause your hair to become more porous. By the hair becoming more porous the hair could also take color much darker on the ends.

Question:

Is it ok for me to use Complex 5 on my hair? Will it fade the color?
Thanks, Jo-Ann
Answer:
Rene Furterer Complex 5 will not fade your hair color.  Also the Complex 5 will
nourish’s  the bulb of the hair and allows the bulb to grow stronger and healthier.
Think of your hair as a plant growing in soil, if you fertilize the soil the plant will grow fuller and stronger.  Your hair will do the same.

I have very dark brown hair naturally. I haven’t dyed it since I was 12! But, I’m dying to go a light shade of red. Is this possible to do without completely destroying my hair w/bleach?

Hi Kyla, Thank you for your question. My answer to your question is dark brown hair even though it’s natural the best you can go with out using bleach is about a medium red. If you try to go much lighter the red could look a bit brassy. Yes I do know that there are hairdressers out there that will say sure we can do that, but it will now be as pretty and healthy looking as it could be. Also the red will not last as long. I hope this helps. If you have any other questions please let us know.
Thanks, Cal Martini
